Project Rehash: Update
Form created in Vasari after review of research notes, little new research was done, rather just imagining new ways of using the resulting data. I also felt in need of linking this to the folie to keep the overall form of the building simple.

Project Update: Rehash for the holidays
Decided to run back through this project given my knowledge at the end of the semester and experiment with what I could do differently. I will post some updates to this blog for those interested to look at.

Post Semester Study
Cadalyst.com: BIM and Algorithmic Form Finding
Article on form finding using mathimatical algorithms for high rise buildings, some interesting stuff for me to continue to look into as an extension on what I have learned this semester about how a building can form. Working through this in my spare time.

Journal Update: Outlook
Discovered today a new tool introduced into the 2011 version of Autdodesk's REVIT; Adaptive Conceptual massing.
Unfortunate that I didn't discover this tool sooner, it works as to draw lines or curves through points that can be adapted to other splines or points in model.
In basic I could for example, create a series of splines developed via the experimentation with particles fields and extrapolate them into a building form via the adapative point system. I thought this idea wonderous, but discovering it the night before presentations is a little late. However at least the knowledge and theories are there for another time.
Reflecting on this semester of my design major. I believe I have learned a great deal. I have been, previous to this semester been prone to develop form purely from the buildings interiors and functions. This semester of design has allowed me to break away from this and look at otherway design can develop and still be usable and have a human scale through the experimentation of animation software, and the development of relation with site. Though I did unfortunately did not let enough of what I learned bloom in my final proposal (for which I am still kicking myself for) I believe I can move on from this subject more free and able in my ability to design, and more knowledgable in how design can come about.

Project 3: Further Research
Heydar Aliyev Cutlural Centre - Zaha Hadid Architects@vimeo
Been perusing Zaha Hadid's design work to learn how to better create curved spline building models, and how I could incorporate my 'conch' into real building design. Working sketches to be uploaded when I bash my scanner into working order.
I've been looking particularly at how her spline roof forms connect to the site and connect to the human scale and ground floor of the buildings.
